Are. You. Kidding. Me?!

I have an eye patch! Argh Matey! This is me. Yesterday, Liam scratched my cornea. That is a pretty annoying pain in the eye. Not to mention that I keep running into things. So, how are things with you?

I forgot about these...

These are from a while ago in August. I forgot all about them. My sister, Meggie, came for a visit for a week from Olympia, Washington. I miss my sisters. I wish they could come visit more often. Anyway, while she was here, we played outside in the sprinkler. Liam LOVED it! Yup, that's right, he is in the buff in the front yard at my mom's house. That's how we roll in Fountain County, ya'll! The last photo is of Megan and her dad, my stepfather, Mark.

Today.

Well, today was a busy day. My friend, Bri, and her beautiful family came for a quick visit this morning. Brianne, Bryan, Brayden, and Brynlee. Cute huh? Bri brought me 2 full trash bags of clothes! I have practically a new wardrobe! Bri has some wonderful family members that I am pretty sure threw in some things as well. I can't begin to explain how much it meant to me. I haven't really gone shopping in a while. I have been all over the place in sizes. So, I never really tried to get anything. I was pumped to have clothes coming out of my ears! It was absolutely awesome to watch God use Bri to meet my wants. I didn't "need" clothes. I just kinda wanted to feel pretty. And I did today.

Also, this afternoon, my little baby got his first haircut. Justin has been wanting to do this for a while. I agreed that we could once Liam started walking. He has been walking for a little while now. I agreed to get a baby mullet. We trimmed the sides and left the back and the top for the most part. I just couldn't handle losing his curls already. Cathy, at Finishing Touch, is an excellent stylist. She does really well with kids. And that is important. I love her.

Then, this evening my mom and my stepfather came over for dinner. I made chicken fajita pizza and taco dip. Yum!

shake rattle and roll

Well my dining room turned into a split pea disaster zone today. The boys and I made rattles with split peas and found objects. I couldn't resist sewing up some nifty little monogramed labels for the repurposed Powerade bottles. Think green! It was easy and fun, the only work is the clean up. Ug.

for the boys...

The other night I was finishing up some dresses and I tried them on the boys to double check the sizes. Oliver did not want to take his off. He thought it was a cape. So, in order to get him to cooperate, I had him help me pick out fabric for his "super bunny" cape. (from Max and Ruby cartoon...) And I whipped this up for him. (Please excuse the poor photographs, they were taken at night.) He wanted to sleep in it! My heart was so happy. I didn't let him sleep in it, for fear that he would strangle himself. Also, recognize that red velvet fabric? It was the cover on "Eunice" the chair. Be green, reduce, reuse, recycle!

This is my new Mei Tai baby carrier! These are super expensive to purchase, so I made one Saturday night. I wanted to have it to carry Liam in at the parade. I ended up putting him in the stroller. Oliver was on the ground anyway. Also, Liam was eating a sucker and I just knew that would end up in my hair. I used the pattern from Beth. It was much easier than I thought it would be. I am still trying to get used to putting him in it by myself. :) That is a challenge.

good victory...

Search RANDOM.ORG
True Random Number ServiceRandom Integer Generator
Here are your random numbers:

10

I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the little random.org counter thingy copy correctly. At any rate, we have a winner. I liked all of your names! However, her name came to me in a dream...

Eunice.

Origin and Meaning of the Name Eunice
Gender: Girl
Origin: Greek
Meaning: Good victory

After I researched the name a little more, it became even more evident that this was her name. She was indeed a "good victory."

And so, I used the random.org thingy to pick a winner for us today. Ms. Amy Gunson who said, "Oh! Great just with the recovering! I'll vote for Mirabelle." Sidenote: I truly did love her suggestion. SO much so that is in the lineup for potential little girl baby names! :) (No, I am not expecting, it is just something I do, keep a random list of potential names. It is always good to be prepared.) Amy, just email me with your mailing information. sunnywilderman@sbcglobal.net
This was fun, I think I will host one every month.

In the spirit of autumn and school beginning, I decided to giveaway a little quilted bookmark. This lovely little bookmark could hold your page for you in a variety of reading material such as: The Young Mother (the book it is photographed in), The Bible, a dictionary, People Magazine, better yet Martha Stewart Living Magazine, or even Everyone Poops. Remember to win this sweet little gal, leave a comment on the post below, and give me a name for my romantic reupholstered seat.

My First Giveaway...

This little seat was purchased on my honeymoon for $5 at a Goodwill. I really wasn't Lovin' it so much anymore. Justin almost pitched it in the trash when we moved. I rescued her. So, she got a makeover. Now, she just needs a name?! Leave your ideas and if I choose your suggestion, I will send you a little something in the mail. Keep checking in and I will post later what I will be sending out! I will choose a winner on Friday.

the library

Clank. Clank. Clonk. (Sound of a little boy tripping over a toy in the next room.) I roll over and rip my burning tired eyes open to look at the clock. Oliver is up an hour early. I pretend that I am asleep so that Justin will tend to him. Then pitter patter Oliver creeps into our room and asks Justin for a "jel-yee sanditch, pease daa-ee pitty peeeaaasse" I tell Oliver to get back in bed. Justin tells me that he will get up with him. I try to go back to sleep. My head is pounding. Sleep ain't happenin. I get up and get in the shower with Justin. Oliver is eating his jelly sandwich and watching cartoons. I take a shower and Justin leaves for work. I finish getting ready and get the boys ready. Today, we are walking to the library for "Mommy and Me" time. I have been tired of being cooped up in our house. With only one vehicle, trips to anywhere are rare and kind of a big deal. (Not to mention gas prices. Don't get me started on that one.) So, I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to get out and meet some new people. I check the weather. 59 degrees. Chilly. Slight chance of rain. They didn't even give a percentage, so I doubt that it will rain. I get the boys dressed in their "nice but not too nice, I don't want to look like we are trying to hard outfits". I was actually pretty excited because both Oliver and I got to wear new thin sweaters for the first time. Oliver starts crying because he wants to watch Backyardigans. I try to tell him, hey we are going to play with other kids at the library and get new books and a movie! He cries for the first block of our walk. Insists on trading sippy cups with Liam. We walk to the library. About 13 blocks to the library. I am dripping in sweat by the time we get there. Oliver ended up riding on top of the stroller by the end of the trip. I get there 5 minutes late, due to Oliver's tantrum and requests to walk and be held. I get the boys out of the double stroller and put it in the library. Get the boys and their sippy cups and head down the stairs. I walk in the kids section and 4 women and their kids all turn and look at us. I feel nervous and utter something along the lines of "better late than never". I try to get Oliver to come and play. "I don't wan-it, momma." He sits on the tiny couch and looks at a puzzle. I take Liam and try to do the motions to the dance that the other kids are doing. All of these women are sitting in a perfect little half circle with their kids in their "we don't care how GOOD we look outfits" behaving and having fun. Liam is trying with all that he has to escape my death grip and get to Oliver. I look over to Oliver only to discover that he has dumped about 9 of the puzzles out on the floor. I leave the "circle" and start putting back together puzzles. After I had given Oliver a very firm hand spanking. Liam starts ripping Clifford the Big Red Dog books off of the shelf. Then 2 of the other kids come over and start taking the puzzles apart. The moms are quick to retrieve them. Liam climbs onto the couch and falls off on his head. I am ready to cry, spank, scream, pass out, and leave. I get the puzzles fixed and put the books back in all the wrong places I am sure. We dance with scarves. Oliver sits and pouts. Then, we start a craft. Alright, this should work. Oliver comes over to look but quickly changes his mind. Liam does the craft. Oliver finds a soda bottle with rice and stuff in it for shaking. He wants it opened. I show him how it works. "Come on Momma, open it." And he gets mad and goes back to the couch. I finish the craft with Liam. Check on Oliver, he is wandering around. Okay. Then, we get out the bubble blower and sing twinkle twinkle little star. The kids are happily clapping and singing and catching bubbles. Like in a movie, no joke. Sweet! These are two of Oliver's favorite things! He comes and gets me, "Come on Momma wets go" He goes up and tries to wrestle the bubble blower from the leader lady. I am scolding him. He starts crying and runs to me. I put Liam down, he plays and watches the bubbles. Oliver begs me for the bubble blower. I am wondering how much longer I am going to be stuck in this place. I can feel the sweat running down my back. The lady sings the goodbye song. We pick out some books and a movie. I load the kids up in the stroller and walk outside to the rain. Great. I hoof it home. Pushing the stroller bus 13 blocks and every time I turn the wheels, they are stuck pulling in that direction. Oliver is begging for his movie to be opened. I take it away from him. I am almost home when Oliver finally quit whining. I am ready to... well I don't know what, but I am mad, hot, sweaty, embarrassed, concerned... a long list of things. I take the boys inside and put them in their beds. Oliver cries. Liam goes right to sleep. I strip off my sweaty clothes and take a deep breath. Yep, my kid is a total brat. Now what. And poor Liam never gets to enjoy anything, because Oliver is getting into trouble left and right. I hope that this is a 2 year old phase. I am going back to the library for some parenting books, only this time, I am going alone.

birds on a wire...

This is a blanket that I made for a friend of mine. Evie was told that she was having a girl and then around 35 weeks, they had an ultrasound and now they say it is a boy. So, I decided to do a relatively gender nuetral blanket. The back is white chenille. Very comfy.

The Rigg's Family

I don't even know where to begin to try to tell Karson's story. Please be praying for this little boy and his family. You can read more about him here. This family needs prayer. Please, I am begging you, take a few moments and read about him and let his family know that you are praying for them.

for Heidi...

Just a couple of photos of some of my recent sewing adventures. The diaper bag was so easy, I just used Sew Christine's tutorial. And viola! The kimono I made using Creature of Habit's tutorial.

brought to tears.

A very sweet and thoughtful friend of mine sent me a delicate and fanciful bouquet of vibrant yellow daisies. I can't begin to explain how much this meant to me. Not the flowers themselves necessarily, although they are beautiful. But, the sincere thought and effort behind the gift. It meant so much to me just to know that someone was thinking about me. That sounds so selfish and vain when I actually type it out. The craziest thing about this gift, is that I so should be sending her flowers and lifting her spirits. It amazes me the way that the Lord uses people, in every state of their life, to encourage His children. Even if you feel like you are unable to give anymore or unable to be used by God, He uses us. Imperfect people. A friend, that is going through the roughest time in her life, is more concerned about me and my well-being, than her own. This has opened my eyes to how unbelievably self-absorbed I am. And has opened my eyes to what an incredible friend that I have, right under my little nose. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Megan

So, here are a few of the images from a shoot I did over labor day weekend. It was a wild and crazy trip. Fun making memories. We were harassed by some people cooking out in a bar parking lot. We nearly killed ourselves trespassing on the old airport property in Attica. We found a new place down by the river. Never a dull moment I tell ya, never. All of the images are up on my website, red9studios
