So, here it is SOOC (straight out of the camera). Not a wretched horrible photograph. Just lacking some "oomph" in my opinion. And well, it is my photo and my boys, so I guess my opinion has some weight in this scenario. :)
And here it is after some manipulation in Photoshop. I think it has some pizazz now. I love the sun-drenched, it's stinkin' hot outside, lazy summer days, essence that it has now.

this is cool
What happened to the days when photographers used film and all manipulation was done in the dark, and it was try and fail, try and fail until they got it right? Those were the good ol' days. : )
I must admit that I truly miss the smell of the darkroom and the way that my fingers would kind of tingle from the developer. There was an uncomfortable calm in the darkroom.
However, the ability to work in my living room with my 2 boys runnin' wild is worth working in Photoshop.
Alas, art is ever evolving and morphing with and without technology. I don't think that digital takes away any validity of the photograph. Digital alterations are just as much of a learned skill as darkroom alterations...
And with that, I will just say, that my personal favorite way to alter a photograph is by painting and sewing and cutting on it... literally.
