asleep at the wheel...

First off, take a second and watch this... It is amazing and made my heart swell.
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=92c_1181837281
Thanks to thimbleanna for suggesting it...

This weekend while I was driving, I passed a train track. There was a man driving a truck on the train tracks. The truck had some kind of adapters on the wheels so that it could cruise on the tracks. The man driving was just relaxed and talking on his cellphone. My little brother (who is not so little these days, he's 14) said, "If I were him, I would just put a brick on the gas and go to sleep." I replied, "Yeah, until you smacked into a parked train." And he replied, "Or flip my truck because I took a corner at like 100mph..."

Well, I smacked into a parked train. Or flipped my truck taking a corner at 100 mph... whichever scenario you prefer. I have just been cruising with a brick on the gas and I have forgotten about where I was going in the first place.

Well, have you ever just felt out of it? I have felt really out of it for a while now. "It" being life I guess. I feel like I just woke up and realized "Oh yeah, I forgot I was driving this thing". I think I just kept going in my usual routine and the next thing I know it is 3 months down the road. Anyway, am I ever grateful that I woke up.

I have been really stressing out about things that I have zero control over, Liam's birth, Justin's job, my family and their decisions... I have a really bad habit of needing to be in control 100% of the time. Annoying I know. It has apparently slipped my mind that God is in control 100% of the time. He, and only He, knows what is best for me. He knows what he is doing and He might clue me in a little later. So, I need to quit being so bossy and expecting things to be done my way on my schedule.

"You have been so good to me. Inspite of all you know of me." Simple lyrics from a children's worship song. But man, it is true.

On a completely different note:

Here are some pictures of the table that my step-dad Mark and I made for Oliver and Liam. I already had the table top. Mark built the legs for table and sanded the entire thing down. He went above and beyond what I had asked. I was thinking something very simple. He did a very good job. (Thanks again Mark , I have no idea if you will ever read this...) Anywho, I painted the table top and the legs. Put a clear coat on the table top. Then, cat hair got stuck in it. Oh well, I am sure more treacherous events will take place with this table, once the boys get bigger. I received the chairs from our church. (another blessing...) So, tada it's complete!

I think he likes it...

moving up in the world

www.sunnysnapshots.com

That is my new website. I did it all by myself. Proud... kinda. It is simple but hey. I want to make it to where I can click on the photos in the gallery and it link to a slide show of images. Anyone know anything about that? Anyway, that is what I am up to at 1:37 in the morning. I should sleep. Night Night.

Little Miss Kenzie...

I went out on the second photo shoot with my sister in law and my niece yesterday. The first one was a total flop. But, I thought I would post some of the photos. I want to start doing some photography on the side to make some extra dough... Anybody have any good marketing tactics that they would share? It seems like there are about a million photography studios. How do I stand out? Anyway, just wondering.

I also worked on Oliver's scrapbook today. I have got to get his first year finished before Liam is born. And I am thinking he is gonna come early. These contractions are pretty annoying these days and he's not due until next month!

Pretty Porch...

Well, after quite a bit of work, it is nearly finished. I still want to put new address numbers on the house and take down the eagle... or paint it green... Either way, I am so psyched about my porch. The best part is, it cost so very little. The wicker furniture was given to me...$0.00 We painted it... $7.00 The fabric for the cushions was on sale at Wal-Mart... $4.00 My lovely mother bought us the plants for the flower beds...$0.00 There used to be a giant bush on the right hand side of the porch, my father-in-law loaned us a chainsaw and my studly husband chopped it down... $0.00 We painted the porch red and it is a rental, take it out of the rent... $0.00 Do you see a trend? I also wanted to paint the mailbox. We have the biggest mailbox on the block. And it was ugly. So a giant ugly rusty brown mailbox, a run down front porch, along with a front yard sprinkled in dog poop, and bare spots in the grass from where I never finished raking the leaves and they killed the grass...inviting eh?! Completing the porch was a big goal of mine for the summer. The porch and Liam's room. When I get Liam's room finished, I will post pictures. It is nearly there.

However, I did finish some of those freezer paper stenciled onesies... I must give credit to Etsy though. I was cruisin the site and found oodles of things that I wanted to buy. I am broke, but crafty... So I borrowed the imagery from some of the items that I wished I could buy. I want to support other people that are using their talents to make a living. I don't think they would let me have them based on my looks though. So I apologize...but they are still pretty stinkin' cute huh. Other news...I am a go-getter this week I tell ya. I also took pictures of my niece, cut my brother's hair, worked on Oliver's scrapbook, organized my scrapbooking materials, and cleaned out my dining room cabinets... all today! I have a to do list with about 30 things on it that I want to get done before the end of July. 30 things, no joke. i am dreading cleaning the tub! Anybody know any quick ways to complete this task that doesn't include being hunched over for 20 minutes! My tummy gets in the way! I smacked myself in the gut with refridgerator door today. Ironic huh... Speaking of growing tummies...I want to congratulate a friend that reads this blog, that shall remain nameless, on her blessing. (fingers crossed for a girl)

Let's see...I think this is enough for now. I am going to try to keep posting more often. Although I know that once Liam gets here that will fly out the window. I do hope everyone had a good week...

The Ever Elusive Quilt for Liam

Well, I finished the quilt for Liam a while ago. I am just lazy about taking photos... But there it is in all it's glory. Done at least.

Oliver fell asleep in his highchair for the first time the other day. I was cracking up. He is having a rough time with an inner ear infection. He has to get shots for three days. Then he goes to the ear nose and throat guy for tubes. Poor kiddo. He is a trooper though. He inspires me so much.

I have a crud load of stuff to get done...

  1. table for the boys

  2. cushions for my porch

  3. Oliver's scrapbook

  4. re-do mirror

  5. finish painting my patio furniture

And I forgot that I have freezer paper stencils to do...at least 10 of them. Geesh!

And yet I type away. I will post these items as I complete them. If I complete them...

By the way...I am approaching "whale-like" proportions.
